In June, the Interpac team visited BHS Corrugated’s principal factory in Weiherhammer, Germany in preparation for volume production of the Interpac Cold Corrugator. The trip represents an exciting milestone in Interpac’s mission to provide the market with a more sustainable and cost-effective solution to corrugated cardboard manufacturing.
Over the course of two days, Managing Director, Charles Smith, Commercial Director, Richard Caunt and Chairman, Richard Cooper were accompanied by a team from Corr24 on a tour of the flagship site. Here, discussions took place surrounding the future of Interpac and how production could be scaled up to meet growing demand.
BHS Corrugated is amongst the largest and most respected mechanical engineering suppliers within the global corrugated board industry, offering exemplary after-sale service, spare parts and maintenance. In the meeting, Interpac identified a shared interest in social, ecological and economical sustainability, as well as a commitment to offering high levels of customer care. For Interpac’s customers, the partnership guarantees greater levels of security and assurance, not just at the point of purchase but throughout the lifespan of the Cold Corrugator.
As concern around the cost of energy and the climate crisis intensifies, greater numbers of organisations are migrating from inefficient, carbon-intensive methods of production to more economical, energy saving alternatives. Interpac’s Cold Corrugator goes several steps beyond modern corrugators, eliminating the use of water and requiring only 30-40kW of electricity to run; less than 10% of the electricity consumption necessary to power a conventional, mainline model.
Owing to the strong partnership between Interpac and BHS Corrugated, the Cold Corrugator will be produced in larger numbers, enabling customers to purchase and obtain the revolutionary model more swiftly.
